The student and youth residence, la resi – Casa Garcia, is located in an unbeatable spot in La Seu d’Urgell: Castellciutat. Today a part of La Seu d’Urgell, it was an independent town until 1971. It sits on a hill facing the Cadí mountain range and the La Seu plain, right above the Valira River and at the foot of the first castle of the Counts of Urgell.
Its name, linked to historical fortifications, highlights its strategic location overlooking the Urgellet valley and the main routes to Andorra, Cerdanya, and Lleida.
The town of Castellciutat, currently home to around 450 residents, keeps a strong, deep-rooted community spirit. This is felt through its rural lifestyle, local cultural traditions, and unique local features like its rural school. Naturally, from a socio-economic perspective, Castellciutat and La Seu d’Urgell are fully integrated parts of the same community.
